PROJECTS

The JJK Children's Memorial was conceived with the primary goal of creating a Children's Reflection/Memorial Garden. We believe there is a need for grieving parents to have a place to quietly reflect; somewhere that can be a place of beauty and peacefulness. For the past several years we have been working closely with the City of Gladstone in conjunction with the revitilazation of Hobby Hill Park to accomplish this goal. The final phase of our vision for the park is slated to be completed in April 2020 with the addition fabricated butterflies that dance in the wind. We are also excited to award 4 scholarships for the 2019-2020 school year!

Beginning in September of 2014, a mutitude of meetings was held to determine whether the plans would be approved and for what uses the park would serve. We were present at each of these meetings to speak about our experiences and our goal to provide a reflection garden for families who have lost children. We were heard. As it stands now, the park will feature three reflection gardens among its miles of walking trails, bike trails, sledding runs, playgrounds and challenge courses. Hobby Hill Park was established in 1935 by Dr. Claude and Aileen Owens. However, much of the 31.9 acres remains unimproved today. The rendering to the right is what is planned to update and improve the park.
